Click Update to download and install all the available updates. If you want to learn about the details of each update before installing, click the arrow next to the Update button and review the apps, versions and installation date. Then click Update All or Update next to individual apps. The simple answer to this question is: Yes. Whether to Office 2019 or Office 365, you should upgrade your Office version, as cloud support for Office 2016 will be dropped in October 13, 2020. Update Office 2010 To 2016

Microsoft releases security and quality updates for the Click-To-Run (C2R) version of Office 2016 and for Office 2019, which is exclusively C2R. These updates are released approximately once a month, usually on the second Tuesday of the month.

The Latest Version is Office 2019. The latest version of Microsoft Office is Office 2019, which is available for both Windows PCs and Macs. Microsoft released the Office 2019 for Windows and Mac on September 24, 2018. The Windows version runs only on Windows 10. If you’re still using Windows 7, Office 2016 is the latest version you can use. The identifiers for the Office apps, such as Word and Outlook, can be used for Office for Mac (from an Office 365 or Microsoft 365 subscription plan) or for Office 2019 for Mac (either a retail or a volume licensed version). If an update is pending for MAU itself, that update must be applied before any applications can be updated.

If you'd like to verify that you're up to date, check your Office version number and manually update Office if necessary. To check your version of Office, do the following:

1. Open any Office application, such as Word or Excel.
2. Choose File > Account.
3. Under Product Information, note the version number under the About section.

If the version number matches the most current version, you're up to date. If not, you can manually update to get the latest version of Office. To update Office, follow these steps.

The following tables provide the update history for the volume licensed version of Office 2019, as well as the retail versions of Office 2016 C2R and Office 2019, with the most recent release date listed first.

New versions contain all the updates contained in previous versions.
